my 'retail therapy is the cure' pair.. i bought them the day i found out that the guy i had a crush on sung at a 21st.. his girlfriends 21st.. i was so upset lolz so my yellow chucks were a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. turns out he had a crush on me too but we were too damn shy to tell each other!

AND I THOUGHT I WAS BEHIND...

this is the low-down: i know a girl who's repeating her year at design school. thinking that she'd had a major turn around from her (down right lazy ass) work ethic last year, i agreed to model for her again this year. how could i have been so wrong?!

i watched in envy, as her class mates paraded their stunning creations past us in the hallway, and into the marking room where the lecturers were waiting. all i could do was look down in embarrassment at our prototype dresses that were held together with pins. (she left it to the last minute and didn't have time for zips).

you could feel the tension in the room by her lecturers. they had the classic 'oh here we go again' looks of disapproval on their faces. it was unpleasant to say the least.

i just wanted to strangle her. i don't actually know why the hell she's doing this course. here i go sounding like a bitch again but i'm not holding back. i can say what i want on here.

ok, when i think of fashion design, i think of project runway. i don't think she has watched a series... ever. she has no style. not as in sense of style, as in style full stop. she's one of those people that would be in the room with others and no-one would even realise she was present. (sounds sad, but it's true). she is lovely, yes. she is a 'good girl' by traditional island standards. but really, really, bland.

i know that not all fashion designers are out there, flamboyant, and loud but even the quiet ones have a strong sense of self/personality/character.

i don't wanna model anymore. i wanna model her colluges collections hahaha my day began bad, and even tho it didn't get worse, it didn't pick up either. look i've just totally rambled. sorry.

anyways, what i've learned today is that i want to go hard out for my final assignment (haven't done anything on it today tho) and i do not want to enter a lecturer critique and start of by saying- "oh yea, umm.. it's not finished yet..." i am not impressed with her, and i don't like that she's proving that islanders are an underclass with her lack of enthusiasm and carelessness for her work. retard. that's what she is. a friggin' retard.

DAYLIGHT SAVING...

means one thing: summer is just around the corner! so don't forget to turn your clock forward an hour before you go to bed tonight.

i'm having a 'nana night' and staying in. (i'd lose an hour in the clubs anyway with the whole daylight saving situation). mumzy is heading out with some of her girlfriends tonight . they decided to come over for a few wines before they went to dinner. she gets so flustered when she invites her friends around. everything has to be perfect. she even washed the bathroom ceiling- honestly. who even looks up there?!

can't wait 'till they leave so i can go eat all their left over chips & dip, cheese & crackers, and chocolates hahaha wish they'd left their wine lmao (no! i'm totally kidding, i would not drink alone!!!) i've got no idea what i'm gonna have for dinner. probs vogels.. LOVE THAT BREAD! hahaha

oh yea & i've 'pushed it further' came up with a wicked concept yesterday. (i was actually walking around in town with mumzy & was furiously sketching on scrap pieces of paper, in fear of losing my idea haha) i'm gonna print my images on translucent paper, and weave them into those chinese lantern lamp shades. then the viewer has the choice of which light they want to flick on, or off etc etc. so it's gone from a 'framed photo on the wall' piece, to an instillation piece. i'll run it past my lecturer.

didn't realise how shit tv was on a saturday night.. probs because everyone with a life is out on saturday night! hahaha i think i'm gonna kick it with mr.g. god i love summer heights high. if my house was to burn down, and i could only escape with one thing, it would be that dvd hahaha

'I WANT YOU TO PUSH IT FURTHER..."

that is all he ever says to me! arrrrgh! i actually do not know how to "push it further" within two weeks. my initial concept was to weave (as in, physically weave) 2 images together to represent the weaving of cultures. and he (my lecturer) was like, "great stuff! it's a bit cliche, but i want to see you to push it further."

i am stuck on creating fantastic conceptual ideas that will do so. any ideas? look at michel tuffery's bulls. the first one, just a life sized bull made out of tin corned beef cans. and he "pushed it further" by making 2 mechanical bulls, that were engaged in a fight with fireworks spinning off them...

he tells me that he's actually "good friends" with shayne (michel's brother). i was like, "um, that's nice." he told me that "originally michel was a painter/etcher and was looking for new material to etch on. he was playing around with the inside of a tin cornbeef can, when he got the idea for the bull creation." mmm. good times.

anyways, i've gotta put my all into this because it's our last assignment of the year and i have to get it perfect the first time because i've got no more resubmits. so i'm scared, but the challenge only makes me wanna work harder and prove to the lecturers that i deserve to be here. got my essay back today. they were suprised at my B+ i got for it. i just wish i put effort in at the beginning of the year and i wouldn't be in the mess i am in at the moment.

what was i doing instead? oh just chasing boys up and down the country hahaha lesson learned!

haven't seen it yet, but looking forward to sima urale's first feature film. loved everything else she's done so far. probs get my geek on & go see it solo hahaha can't think of anyone else who'd be interested. actually, maybe my nana 'coz she know's the urale aiga. anyways, go see it and let me know what you thought.

DAILY WALK TO SCHOOL

'don't think, just shoot" was my mantra as i walked to school today. i threw away all thoughts of composition, design elements, light, angles etc, and just snapped away on my little nikon coolpix S50 digi cam... didn't photo shop any of the image, but... i did crop some of them (i couldn't help myself) haha!

5 HOURS SITTING @ THE COMPUTER AND...

i've done shit all. been at school all day and have not done ANYTHING remotely related to my assignment which is due in 3 weeks time and we've had 8 weeks so far to work on it. lost. that's where i'm at.

all i want to do is screen print tshirts for summer, sit on the deck and drink montieths summer ale. yum. that's where i'm at. dreamland haha!

bella qweens' are coming to town (the word 'queens' always puts a picture of men in drag in my head lolz) but these are all ladies i am certain of that. anyways their gig is next saturday night at bar mode. (4th oct) everyone should come along and check it out. i tried looking for their myspace page, but with no avail.

anyways, i'll be there... maybe. well, i've got a 21st on that same night. so i'm not too sure.

WHEN IT RAINS... IT POURS!

today was sucha gray & dreary day. the rain would not let up at all.







and on a brighter note, i got me some imitation raybans that i've been longing for haha! i got 2 pairs for 20 bucks at cotton on. took me ages to decided whether or not to get two, but i decided that during my summer of drunkeness i'll probs break/lose a pair hahaha but yay! for cotton on for providing decent sized frames. tried a pair on in equip but i looked like i'd stolen some kids' glasses.. not to mention that they had these big gay silver birds in each corner of the frames that where killas!!!

I'M HOUSE SITTING...

i'm house sitting my nana's house until the end of the week while she's in auckland for an operation. i cannot sleep there and i can't figure out why. it's spooky! honestly.. i don't scare easily, and i can usually sleep anywhere, but when i get there.. i just cannot wait to get home again. i also have to look after her two small sausage dogs that are ancient and knocking on deaths door. they stink! (i like dogs, but real dogs.. like big ones.. haha) anyways, i had a terrible sleep last night and i woke up at 6am and came straight home lolz i'm putting it down to the fact that she's got no internet. i can't sleep in a place with no internet connection. it feels like i'm not connected to the world haha she's got sky tho. so i planned to watch tv all day but there's nothing good on!!! oh well. i think i'll have a nap before i head to school. catch up on the sleep i missed out on last night.
