GUILTY INDIAN PLEASURE...

this bollywood film is called "Dostana" and stars Abhishek Bachchan (married to the main chick in Bride and Predjudice in real life), John Abraham, and Priyanka Chopra. (yea i don't know any of them either lolz) but anyways, it's where all my current fave indian bollywood songs are from.

WASH DAY AT THE PA...

hahahaha not quite like ans westra's controversial documentry photo series, but like i said everything is shut 'til saturday. which means that the laundry downstairs is closed, so i had to do my washing vietnamese stylez haha all i can say is that the washing powder made my clothes smell sooooo good! maybe i'll stop taking it downstairs and do it myself from now on!

DOWN TIME IN NAM...

it's chinese new year, so that means everyone's on holiday. it's so quiet around here! it's like a ghost town. hardly any action on the street, no craze-o driving, even more rare decor store was shut. business as usual come saturday though.

i saw some bi-racial love today: a white girl on the back of a yellow boy's scooter soaking up the sights.

my "wtf scene" of the day: two middle aged white women enjoying a cyclo ride. yes, that was normal enough BUT... they both had black toddlers sporting red t-shirts with yellow stars (like the vietnamese flag). if that doesn't spell "identity crisis" when those kids grow up, then i don't know what does.

NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY IT BUT...

i low-key miss new delhi. i know, i know, what i usually start hating straight off, i will come around to enjoying, and maybe loving. (but i'm a looooong way from that haha) when we landed, it was an instant dislike. i wanted to run back on board and demand to be flown back to vietnam hahaha but after i found my creature comforts: indian vogue (the indian models are STUNNING), hot chocolate, shopping malls with clothes that FIT, and my bollywood music video chanel, then i got a feel for the place, and settled in quite nicely.

it made me appreciate vietnam so much more (i used to hate this place, because i would compare it to shanghai all the time). and i also aquired a new found "inner strength" if you please, more assertive in myself, courage maybe? anyways, i'm more at ease just hanging out in nam, catch taxis solo from place to place, dealing with pushy shop assistants etc. i think because a) i'm not hasseled by creepy guys as much b) i don't have tp worry about covering up c) it's safer for me to be out and about on my own than always being chaperoned everywhere in delhi. (especially since they caught those 2 supposed terrrorists the day we got back from visiting the taj in agra).

even though i struggled to understand the english laced with the heavy indian accent, it was nice to have people that spoke a "kind of" english too lolz

i'm tired as from the flying, but was craving some of my bollywood beats (HAHA!) and hello! i managed to download some songs off the net AND i found the bollywood film that has all these songs i like on youtube, so i'm currently downloading it so i can finally understand this love triangle story that i've sort of worked out from the music videos. it's got english subtitles too, so that's a bonus haha

film of the year in india at the mo' is slumdog millionare. (we bought the book, so i'm gonna read it before we hunt down the dvd). i think it's won some golden globes already? i could be wrong, but that's the impression i'm under from the hype in india. i also read in a local newspaper that the pussycat dolls want to remake the main song (called jai ho). awesome, once again the west tryna take something good from the natives and stamp their name all over it. shot guys. anywho, unfortunately because i quite like the pussycat dolls i'll probs be the #1 fan haha.

i'll leave you with the song that they wanna do. back to work for me tomorrow. an unplanned trip to cambodia for work is on the cards, but i shall keep you posted... peaCe.

LATE NIGHT TV IN NEW DELHI...

i'm addicted to indian music videos. and i think the leading women in the soaps are stunning. i can't understand a word they're bloody saying but i'm glued to the set everytime!!!
